Cold Between Stars, by Belinda Crawford

4.0

Thank you, Belinda, for introducing a new fear to my nightmares.

Imagine waking up from your stasis sleep unexpectedly and early. Light years too early. Now imagine you're the only one awake and there's something very wrong with the ship. My description doesn't do justice to the fear Belinda will manage to instill in you in the first chapters.

Kuma is just a kid and now he's alone. The stasis pods won't operate, the AIs are broken, and a "fug" is...feasting on everything it touches. Can Kuma figure out what's going wrong and fix the ship? How much can one boy possibly do?

I have found the best way to enjoy Belinda's writing is to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Let the story envelope you can carry you along, just be careful not to let the fug touch you.

Good for people who want thrills and horror in their sci-fi.
