The Love of My Next Life by Brit Benson

5.0

This book! Man there is so much love and heartbreak in one story. I binged this book so hard.
Best friends brother, enemies to lovers with a touch of overly dramatic bullying? Yes please.
I loved the tension that Brit displayed with these two characters. With all the push she gave us even more pull. These two were tethered together and it was glorious.

To show such a wide range of emotions in two pretty young characters has got to be tough but Brit did this with grace - While they weren't fully mature adults, there wasn't an a sense of being overly immature either.

Lennon - is your girl next door with a little bit of sass and a lot of backbone. I loved her strength, her bravery and the overall love that she displayed for everyone close to her. Lennon carried a lot of secrets that in the end were a little more damaging to herself, to protect those around her. She was so selfless and it was easy to fall in love with her. Lidia Dornet narrates the part of Lennon and I don’t think I could have hand picked anyone better for her. Lidia was the perfect Lennon and she completely stole my heart.

Oh Macon - this dark cloud with a heart of gold. When I first met Macon, I thought I had him pegged. I was certain he was just going to be your typical high school bully with very little purpose. Brit, had me fooled 100%. Macon had so much love in his heart, he was soulful and beautiful deep in there, he was just lost and needed help finding his way. JF Harding was the perfect Macon. He was angsty, he was hurt and he gave such a stellar emotional performance.

They both had their issues and thats what I felt like we needed to see. A lot of the times in these younger/ bully type books they always focus on the bullies issues - Brit gave us all the good and the dirty with these two.

The side characters were great as well! Stunning story telling!
