The physical book I read the synopsis from gave me very different expectations than what the actual story was and I ended up being a bit disappointed. I was expecting a horror filled series of games that our main character has to survive but instead I got a more reflective, less action, horror story.
The mystery and intrigue was enough to keep me reading but I kept expecting more. This book felt more like an introductory story to get you familiar with the rules of this world and the characters. I kept waiting for it to really start and never really got that feeling. I thought the concept was pretty cool I just didn’t enjoy the story itself.
The only reason I’ll be keeping this book is because the cover under the dust jacket is cool af lol 🖤
Also side note: very graphic gore ~ (literally had to put down the book after reading a descriptive burning alive scene)
