I was so excited for this book! Honestly, Sally is one of my favorite authors! I have so enjoyed all the books I have read of hers. After reading Silver Dollar Duke, the first in the Hearts of Arizona series, I was excited for this next one. I always enjoy series where the story continues with the same characters. Lady Evelyn Lyon has lost her husband, fortune and place in England. She hopes that in Arizona, her husband’s stock in Bisbee Copper Queen mine will make a way for her and her daughter to survive. After being failed by every man she has known, she would rather be alone than dependent. However, the fraudulent stock certificates leaves her more alone than ever. Christ Morgan, or Frosty as he is known by all, never expected a family. But when his cousin dies, leaving two children for him to raise, his plans change. When he comes upon an English woman alone, he is determined to help. Can their problems be solved together? Through a marriage of convenience, they may find their solution and possibly love…
This was super cute! First of all, I love stories with kids. I think that they give romances a new depth, with other relationships to build and connections to be had. The kids in this story make it so much sweeter, they are a key part of what brings Frosty and Evelyn together and I think it is adorable! It was so cute to read about how they became a family together.
I was so excited that this book was about Frosty! He seemed like such a nice character and I enjoyed learning more about him. He was so sweet! As you read about his adjustment to his new family, it is incredibly touching to see how hard he is trying to help them. He has no idea how to help children, but is doing his best. Evelyn was such an admirable character too. She had gone through a lot of tragedy and was determined to take care of herself and her daughter. Finding herself in the Arizona desert with few options was not part of her plan.I enjoyed watching her adjusting to the ranching life. It was definitely a fish-out-of-water story, with funny and tender moments coming from it. I loved how she connected to the ladies of the ranch. She and Madeline, her daughter, really found a family there. It was also so adorable to see the continuation of the background stories at the ranch too!
Overall, this was a sweet western story in the series. Though it can be read as a stand-alone, it is so much better to read it as part of a series! It is clean, but has some mention of domestic abuse. I would probably recommend it to teens and up!
