This one is even slower than the first, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it didn’t keep my attention very well. I kept waiting for something to happen. Sometimes I like slow when I’m really invested in the characters and love them, but that isn’t really the case for these characters yet. I kinda dreaded getting to the Kamran POV chapters lol. The beautiful writing and Cyrus-Alizeh dialogue brought this up a bit for me. Since there’s only one more book (EDIT: I learned it’s going to longer then a trilogy now and then immediately DNFed the 3rd book), I guess I’ll finish the series but I’m not particularly excited about it, which is sad because I love this author and read everything by her — I had high hopes for this series.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Torture, Toxic relationship, Kidnapping, and Grief
