I don't understand the high 4.5 average rating on this. It was a struggle for me to get through, and the only reason I followed up on it after the first one was to see if the relationship got progressively more controlling/worse like in 50 shades and Twilight.
The answer is yes, very much so. You get to see inside his head, and he's completely possessive and only thinks of her. It's not "sweet", it's creepy as shit. This is the type of book I'd give my daughters to read and discuss after about healthy versus not healthy relationships. The poor female lead has *no* healthy relationships, and she acknowledges that multiple times in the book.
