Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

4.0

I went into this book with really high expectations, and ended up finding it to be a mostly decent distraction on a rainy day. (That it to say, it didn't live up to its hype for me, but it wasn't terrible, either.) I never felt particularly attached to any of the characters, but I did appreciate the way it combined fairy tale creatures and modern crime. I can see how it might be appealing to readers who need fantasy to be a little more edgy and non-mushy.

Overall, three out of five stars. Nice read when you're bored, though not necessarily anything I'll feel like reading again.
