The Runaway by R.L. Stine

4.0

This was a fast-paced book with teenage drama, angst, and suspense by the dozen. I couldn't wait to find out if what I thought was going to happen or not - and it did! I won't spoil the ending, but it was pretty easy to figure out if you're a fan of RL Stine's books. They're predictable enough for the average reader, but they also ALWAYS engross and captivate you to keep reading until the very end.

I have to be honest: I didn't like Nick. At all. I understand he had his reasons to do what he was doing, but I just didn't vibe with him well. He felt fake to me. I actually liked Andy more and the boy was already dead! Even Felicia wasn't a strong character for me to resonate with, but she wasn't as terrible as Nick.

I enjoyed this book, so thank you, RivetedLit, for a free read during the haunted month of October.
