3.0

Personally, the book is probably sitting at a 3 star read. Not because the book is bad or poorly executed by any means, I just can't say I really liked it, or that I loved it.

The magic system was cool, the way it spun the typical magic system on its head was fun, I liked elements of the world building, specifically in regards to Ziran as a city, but I wished they were established a little more.

I did also like the characters well enough, but I wasn't really invested in what they were doing, more of where the story was going to go. And boy, did this story GO. I feel like, while you can guess probably half of what's gonna happen, there's still half that you'll never see coming, and that does work out in it's favor. I don't think most are going to guess where this story will end when it does, and while originally I was worried how the books will continue after the whole tournament is over, I can very easily see how there will be enough material to supply a series.

Don't think I'm going to rush out and get the next one, but I will keep an eye out.
