I’m just going to come right out and say it: I loved this book! In preparation for my favorite season, Halloween, I’ve decided to check out some books with spooky vibes. I know picked out this book on a whim while visiting the library and I’m so glad I did. This was just such a great book, in case you didn’t gather that from my first few sentences.

We have two main characters: Deirdre, whose POV takes place in 1881, and Gracelynn, whose POV takes place in 1931. Their stories connect but I won't spoil how. I couldn’t tell you whose POV I enjoyed more. Both were entertaining to read and I enjoyed what each character brought to the story. Both were amazing women. They were so strong and brave. I was rooting for them the whole time and wanted nothing but the best for them. I was so stressed for them.

This book showed witchcraft as something incredibly beautiful. It showed all it has to offer and how wonderfully it connects with nature and how it can benefit the people around you. But it also shows the darker side of witchcraft. It shows how ill intention towards others can be very bad, for both you and the intended recipient.

Overall, I can't get over how beautiful this book was. The amount of LGBT representation was amazing and exceptionally well done for a historical fiction novel. The plot was so good. I truly had no idea how it was going to end and I was so stressed for everyone involved. This was truly an exceptional book and I can't recommend it enough. It is perfect for the upcoming spooky season or for any season in general.
