SpoilerI firstly want to say that the art style is STUNNING, I was in awe when I turned each page. The way the characters are drawn, how the magic is shown, the colouring, beautiful.

The story was interesting to read, not going to lie, I was lost most of the time, so I don't 100% get what's happening, but I think I understand the general idea. It's interesting that hair is tied to how powerful your magic is. One thing I don't understand though, is that it says 'those with hair judged too long are pronounced enemies of he kingdom, and annihilated', which is what happened to Jaga, Nyneve's father. But, if you look at the illustration, his hair is long, but it isn't that long, but then Prill's hair seems to be just as long, if not longer, same for Nyneve, and neither of them were killed. Then you've got Viceroy Jinheung Nyoto Jung's hair which is the longest of them all, and he's Captain Regent. So like I guess I just don't understand that?

I'm interested to read the second book to see what happens next, find out what happened in the past with Nyneve's family, or just hopefully figure out what was actually going on.
