Trouble at Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy

3.0

Family runs deeper than blood. It’s funny when you think about it. Family runs deeper than blood, yet it’s the ones we chose we’ll so willingly bleed for.

Okay, so last book was definitely a stepping stone to this one, because wow. Things just got 100 times more complicated. The character list is expanding, and so is what we already know about the main characters. That ending… ;)

“Welcome to the other side of the spectrum, Brayshaws. Your very own queen might just dethrone you.”

Also, What is it with New Adult series in a school setting and fight clubs? I feel like every one of them has that token place where all the students go to place bets and blow off steam??

Anyway not much to say in terms of the main characters that would be different from my book one review without spoiling major details, but I really love how their friendship evolved! It’s crazy how only one book ago Raven hated them. And of course, Maddoc and Raven’s relationship is only getting more complicated…

“So, you’ll share your world, but not your mind?”
“My mind is dark, baby.”
“And?”
“And you’re afraid of the dark.”

Anyway Raven was iconic in this book, particularly at the beginning when the cliff-hanger from the last book was being resolved. She really did change everything.

“All right, look. Everyone around here knows, without a doubt, nobody could stand with them, so nobody has dared to try. Behind, yeah. In the same circle, sure, but never beside.” He licks his lips and looks off. “You, though, Rae. You might just be able to stand a solid foot in front.”
