Childhood's End, by Arthur C. Clarke

5.0

This was a very engaging book. For being only a few hundred pages it packed in so much. Humanity is visited by strange alien beings and that is just the start of it. It's pretty great to read something and how no idea where it is going to end up. What an imagination Arthur C. Clarke has. The overlords are neat. There are lots of fun reveals regarding them. The book spans the entirety of mankind which was a fun journey to go on.

This is an excellent example of just how much book you can cram into one book. It's only 200 pages long and you get all of the following:
- An alien invasion
- Mysterious, inventive aliens
- Plenty of interesting sci fi ideas
- Four or five different timelines
- The actual end of the world
- People shifting into some of sort of unified consciousness and merging with the Overmind
There is no fat here. Every page and story has a purpose. I loved it.
