Body Work by Melissa Febos

5.0

An astonishing work that every memoir and creative nonfiction writer needs to read. Not only is it a defense of personal narrative, it's also a philosophy of memoir. The audiobook and it was a quick three-hour listen. I appreciate the brevity and how even at that length it's full of so many gems. It's highly likely I will pick up a physical copy of this book to dog-ear and underline. Whenever anyone questions the worth of memoir or writing challenging personal stories, I will point them to this book. This is the definitive answer to anyone who questions the validity of personal writing.
