I just love books about summer, women and growing up.
The young hero, not really a child but not yet an adult, feels stuck in a cycle, not ready to become a clone of everyone he knows. This book is a moment of peace and lyrical poetry (and it is trying really hard to feel poetic, often going farther than my knowledge of nature vocabulary allows). The cottage core vibes were immaculate, we're talking writing poetry in a little cabin next to the sea. We love a woman mentor figure. This book just worked for me.
