The overall tone of The Firekeeper’s Daughter, is absolutely incredible. The author does a good job of putting you into the world of the main character. You care about the things she cares about. The pace of the mystery was really well structured once it got off the ground, but the beginning of the book does not start out right away with a mystery. Parts of the book were slightly trope-y and over the top YA “this boy I just met is my entire life, and I’m going to make out with him right now, even though we’re in grave danger,” but overall a great read, with good writing and fleshed out characters.
