The Complete Strangers in Paradise, Volume 1 by Terry Moore
5.0
When I picked this series up, I didn't expect to love it. I really didn't expect to be in the comic book shop the next day buying every SIP issue I hadn't read.
With characters who have somewhat cheesy names like "Katchoo," and drawn in a somewhat cute manner, I expected to have another example of the kind of ridiculously ignorant objectification of women/ essentialization of women that one finds in many of the other books. One might even call it a comic book REQUIREMENT. But then I met Tambi, and Bambi, et al, and Freddie....what a great storyline, at least in the beginning before David gets religion...and perhaps I can re-read even those issues with a more open mind. Highly recommended, if only for the gorgeous artwork.
