If I were to rate based on the first 40%, this would be a 3⭐. I think the beginning really could have used another editing pass, because there were some major flow issues and I didn't have any kind of sense for who Elsy was and maybe she felt a little too much like Florence.
It felt like when you accidentally jump into a romance series on book three, with a bunch of characters running around who you know you're supposed to have an emotional attachment to, but you don't because you haven't read the other books.
But then I got into the meat and potatoes, and it starts to pick up. And even if there are some editing issues here and there, I got so sucked into the story so much that they were background noise.
And it sticks the landing. 10/10. Ashley Poston knows how to finish a romance novel, goddammit. No notes.
TW: blonde MMC 😅
