The Book of Difficult Fruit: Arguments for the Tart, Tender, and Unruly (with Recipes) by Kate Lebo

3.0

I have no idea how I ended up wanting to read this book but somehow it ended up on my TBR list and I checked it out from the library in turn. I do like fruit (who doesn't?) and occasionally enjoy reading through cookbooks. This sounded like a book I'd like.

As soon as it arrived and I learned that the first fruit highlighted was Aronia, a fruit I've never heard of before, I gave myself permission to skim the chapters that didn't interest me. No need to spend a lot of time learning how to make a marmalade from a fruit I won't likely ever bump into in my life, right?

I did find out lots of interesting tidbits of information about fruit (and other food-stuff included in the book that are not fruits -- wheat, vanilla, xylitol) and I even laughed a few times (like the moment she first bit into a quince.)
