The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie by Rachel Linden

5.0

An adorable story! I would recommend it to anyone.

Lolly Blanchard is responsible and has been holding her family together for years, or so she thinks. Her moms passing 12 years ago upended everything. Ever since then, Lolly has been fulfilling her promise to her mother- keeping the diner going, keeping her dad and sister going, making six of her moms secret lemon meringue pie’s every morning. She gave up her own dreams for her family.

But the diner is struggling, and her sister wants to leave college for a yoga certification. She finds a list she made when she was 13 of all her goals - a list of goals she hasn’t accomplished. She never started her own restaurant, she didn’t live abroad, she DID fall in love before she broke his heart and ended things with him, she couldn’t keep her family happy since her mom died, and she never got a horse.

But everything changes when her great aunt gives her three magical lemon drops. Take one before bed and think about one regret in your life and you’ll wake up tomorrow and live one die in a life that could have been. Three chances to face her regrets and learn. What could happen if she really had opened Toast, her restaurant? What could happen if her mom hadn’t died? What would her life look like if she had married Rory Shaw?

I loved the magic of the lemon, and all the wisdom peppered through this book. It was adorable!
