This book was not at all what I expected!
My edition had beetles on the cover and I thought I’d be getting loads of bug and insect horror. There was some bugs but not much.
Anyway.. I don’t even think this is a horror. More of a psychological suspense in my opinion.
It’s a character driven story and as such the pacing is slow and deliberate. Very atmospheric book with an isolated setting in the middle of some hot and dusty area. The masterful descriptions really make you feel that heaviness of the air, heat and humidity. Loved it.
It’s set in the future with a small cast of characters, quite intimate.
And the ending was brilliant!
