**I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**
Eden Finley is an author on my autobuy list and I was so excited to see that she would be writing in the True North world and Headstrong did not disappoint! Headstrong stars Rainn, who is a grumpy gus character who is most defiantly not in the alphabet mafia and Whit who is sunshine personified and who is also out and proud. And before you think that this is a gay for you story it is not. What I loved about Headstrong, and Eden Finley in general, is how she shows that there is no right or wrong time to discover new things about ones sexuality. Yes there are some who know early in life and then there are others who don't realize until they are much older.
As with pretty much every other Eden Finley book once I started Headstrong I couldn't put it down. I was so invested in this story! And I also loved seeing brief cameos from Tanner and Molly who first appear Garrett Leigh's Heartscape. They really help connect the books in the Vino & Veritas series but also fit in seamlessly so there is no confusion to the reader if they haven't read that book yet. Each book in the True North expanded universe can be read as a standalone but for those that read all the book you get these nice little easter eggs that really help to flesh out the world.
I loved this story. Like its hard to put into words just how much I loved this story. I really loved Rainn's journey and self-discovery as he started to fall for Whit. I loved how these two really bonded and grew over the story....and while they are flawed and had issues they were able to work them out and become better people as a result. The epilogue scene also made me laugh out loud and if you know me you know that I usually despise epilogues as they add no value to the overall story. So Finley has written an epilogue unicorn!
Its really hard to put my love of this story into words but Headstrong might be my favorite Eden Finley book to date (and probably will be until I read her next book) truly she is an author that you need to have on your to read lists. She writes some really great stories that stay with you long after the final page.
