Surviving Skarr by Ruby Dixon

3.0

This one was hard for me to enjoy because I just can’t stand characters like Skarr, the big dumb jock who always talks about himself… I believe the point of his character was to be unlikeable and the author truly succeeded in that.

Vivi was a more likable character, that’s for sure, but I also don’t find her really relatable so she doesn’t stand out for me. I care for her and her story, but not as much as I have for other characters. The struggling with being a clone aspect was done better in R’jaal’s book, in my opinion. Since we had already dealt with that and there wasn’t any true danger or drama, this was a more low stakes story.

The most enjoyable part was the humor throughout the book and everything from about 75% onward. Skarr becomes a bit more likable and Vivi’s character blossoms more by then.
