The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros

4.0

What a relatable book. The “your mamma” jokes, the kids sharing their good toys, how the young kids see the older adults in the neighborhood were all things that made me remember how it was growing up on my street. When you grow up lower class, it’s hard to see a way out, hard not to get caught up in the things that plague the poor communities, but sometimes you see a way, and you make a decision to do whatever it takes to never live on the street where you were raised
