The Meaning of Freedom by Angela Y. Davis

informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

5.0

So incredible to read Angela Davis’s ideas evolve over a 15 year period. I previously read Women, Class, and Race and Are Prisons Obsolete? I think this really drives home many of the points she made in those texts and challenges you to continue developing thoughts and opinions. Especially to continue learning and listening to new ideas and perspectives. One of my favorite quotes from the book was at the very end:

“We fight the same battles over and over again. They are never won for eternity, but in the process of struggling together, in community, we learn how to glimpse new possibilities that otherwise never would have become apparent to us, and in the process we expand and enlarge our very notion of freedom.”
