I didn't think I'd like cozy lit that much, but "Legends & Lattes" was the perfect book to relax and get my mind off things for a while.
The characters are loveable and the world the author is building looks really promising and intriguing! The story is very, very predictable, but that's fine. In this novel, the journey of reading it is its own reward.

This is the literary debut of Travis Baldree and one can kind of tell. His style of writing is simple, but in a rather effective and charming way. The descriptions of the people, places, objects and actions are curt and leave just the right space for your mind to fill out the details. The story of building up something new from scratch reminded me a lot of "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. I have to admit I didn't enjoy the style at first, but quickly realized how much fun I had imagining the coffee shop, yet I was always hoping for just a bit more depth - character- and story-wise.

"Legends & Lattes" is a great book to read if you need a break. It's kind of written like a DnD campaign, except you stopped slaying monsters and are now opening a café. Don't expect fantastical plot twists or deep conversations, but a heartwarming story that will just make you happy.

I will definitely keep an eye on Travis Baldree and any other books he might write!
