Tik Tok lied. Honestly, this book wasn’t even mediocre. It was poorly written. Flat characters. An attempt at a plot that went nowhere. A predictable twist. One of the biggest douchebags shooting his shot as the main love interest. My god. Looking at the notes I took while reading I complained so much about him.

This guy immediately starts referring to her by a pet name and the one he chose was so cringy. He called her Little One 🤢 It’s pretty much the only thing he called her and he seemed to go out of his way to say it too. Every sentence or question ended with “Little One”. Every single time he said it I would think of a child. How is that an endearing name for someone you’re attracted to sexually? Seriously. It made him come off creepy AF.

While he kept saying he wouldn’t pressure her or touch her sexually until she was ready (was he expecting some sort of medal for the literal bare minimum? Why is the bar for men so fucking low!!?) he would often crowd her space, put his body on hers/touch her, and tell her repeatedly that she would be begging for his cock. He literally said there was no need to violate her because she’d want him and come to him willingly soon enough. The fuck! Oh but don’t worry, he does get an award for something! He broke the record for the amount of times a person can talk about their own cock. There were even a few consecutive pages where it seemed like he said cock every 5 words.

Pretty much all the men in this book were disgusting. The two MCs ended up hanging out with a group of rebels for a while and all the men apparently think they are owed sex because “that’s all women are good for since they can’t fight” and the men outnumber the women 4:1. The two MCs have sex in front of everyone and of course all the men get super turned on. As the MCs are leaving the room, a woman tells the lady MC that they (the women) will take care of the storm they created referring to all the horny men after watching this main couple have sex. Gross. I hated what all of this implied.

I think I maybe see what the author was aiming for, but they missed the mark by miles. I would have DNF’d this book at several points if I wasn’t reading it for a buddy read. I was the first to read it out of my friends and was hoping it would turn around and get better at some point, but it really didn’t. In fact, it got worse as it went. Beyond this book simply not being good, it also doesn’t sit right with me.
