This book was such an exciting but heart wrenching read. It’s so sad that this is how society is, but I appreciated the pragmatic approach Grisham took to describing the issues. In my opinion, Brigance was not too lovable of a character but Carl Lee was. He avoided falling into that white savior complex issue in my opinion through taking us through the story. My only issue was that it just rlly felt like Grisham wanted to say the n-word his whole life and just exploded it over every page. A little weird but I get that its Mississippi in the 50’s.
Graphic: Racial slurs
