Dragon Lords: The History and Legends of Viking England by Eleanor Parker

3.0

An example of a "it's not you, it's me" kind of book reaction: I thought I'd picked up a book that would have more to say about the history of Viking raids in England, daily life in the Danelaw, and so on, and what Eleanor Parker actually wrote was a book that is more about later medieval English literary use/memorialisation of the figure of the Viking raider/Danish invader. Parker clearly knows the sources very well, but I can't say that the writing was strong enough to reinforce my waning interest in the book as I read.
