no. just no.

I despised this book so much I didn't even bother writing a review, but I saw a post about it recently and thought hey what the heck. listen, I'm normally really nice in my reviews, even if I didn't like a book I try to focus on the positives and be constructive but this book...

the premise of the story is interesting and gave me Prison Break vibes but what in the flying fuckaroos happened here?

FMC is in a domestic violence relationship and while her abuser is lying dead on the floor the MMC grapes her on the floor right beside them? I think that was maybe supposed to be dubcon and that his is meant to be dark but there's a line and him aggressively manhandling her and her repeatedly saying "no" and "let me go" and, again, the fact she was JUST in a dv relationship (as in they JUST killed her abuser) definitely makes this noncon. buddy. get a grip. no no, a grip on yourself, do not grip her again.

she becomes this badass killer out of absolute nowhere.

and then the miscarriage? what was the reason? what. was. the. reason???? if people already hate the pregnancy trope, a miscarriage trope is like that on steroids. no. just no.
