At the River's Edge by Mariah Stewart

4.0

I don't know if this book was that much better than the last few that I rated at 3 stars, or if I've just gotten used to the authors wordy-ness and have learned to skim better when needed. Don't get me wrong, I loved Sophie and Jason. I have since we met them previously and was looking forward to their book in this series. But Mariah Stewart's tendency to give the reader insignificant information just drives me crazy. I am glad I have stuck with the series, though. I love the town and love the characters...I just don't always love the overflow of details.

I was a bit disappointed that we only got a peek into Jason's past. Plus, it was only at the end of the book that he talked to Sophie about his feelings when it came to his family. There was quite a lot that could have been done with that part of the story.

The good news, for me, is the next book deals with Carly - who I loved in the last book - and the elusive Ford. Hopefully we will get some rich story with all that Ford must have done over the last few years.
