The Setup and The Substitute by Jiffy Kate

4.0

The Setup and the Substitute is the 3rd book in the New Orleans Revelers series by writing duo Jiffy Kate. It’s quintessential Jiffy Kate, so you’ll get plenty of laughs, plenty of heart, and plenty of steam. I also love that they bring locations from other series they’ve written into it; like all of their characters from all their books fit into one big Jiffy Kate universe.

Sophie is a strong female character who comes from a wealthy family, but wants to live life on her own terms. She wants to do what she loves instead of follow in her family’s footsteps. She’s the perfect nanny choice since she’s Owen’s daughter Molly’s substitute teacher and already has a good relationship with her.

Owen is a sweet, single dad who wants what’s best for his kids. He and his kids have been abandoned by his ex and with him traveling for work, he just wants his kids to have some stability.

There’s a really sweet meet-cute, involving the kids, and it’s hard not to fall in love with all involved.

I love that we get cameos from the first two books. Ross, known mostly from book #2, The Ace and The Assistant, is a series favorite for me and I’m so happy we got to see a lot from him. He really is worthy of captain status. I love how supportive he is to Owen and his relationship to Sophie.

Overall, this was a sweet, easy to read romance. I read it pretty much in one go, and you really can’t go wrong with Jiffy Kate.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Greer and Mack in book #4.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
