I always love the Gamache books. This one had a lot of elements and some time jumps that left me a bit befuddled as to how it would come together, so I just sat back and let Penny do her thing. It did all come together in the end although it was all a bit elaborate. Still I loved the way the story picked up steam towards the end; I love that rising crescendo of tension and peril that makes it so incredibly hard (and often impossible) to put the book down.
Moderate: Animal death, Child abuse, Gun violence, Hate crime, Sexual assault, Suicide, Terminal illness, Violence, Mass/school shootings, Death of parent, and Murder
Minor: Vomit
Lots of talk about a real mass shooting in Montreal. Child sexual abuse isn’t described in detail but enough to be triggering for some. And murders that are not described in great detail but are still disturbing
