The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon by Brad Stone

informative reflective medium-paced

4.0

A fascinating book, written in digestible story format while tracking Amazon's ups and downs. Reading this in 2023 comes with the benefit of hindsight, and I am looking forward to reading the follow-up book to see how Stone addresses the period between this book's publication and that one. The author admires Bezos but does not shield readers from the truth of the intense and viciously negative aspects of internal firm culture, which are now widely known. Did this book leave me feeling a bit uneasy about Amazon's power? Sure. But is the book itself well written and informative? Absolutely, and thus worth 4 stars.
