The Eating Instinct: Food Culture, Body Image, and Guilt in America by Virginia Sole-Smith

4.0

there were times were sole-smith struggled to make her point, but overall this book was informative and thorough. she really found her strongest philosophizing toward the end, and when she spoke about her personal experiences with her daughter. this book lacks a sufficient political awareness and analysis, but it's billed as more of a self-help style examination of food and eating, so that's okay. it still provided very valuable insights and did a great job of going deeper into less-often-explored eating experiences. definitely worth the read!
