There is no question that the reputation of this book is well-deserved. It perfectly captures the essence of adventure in a way that makes you wish you were right there. The plot, while incredibly engaging, is clearly simplistic given the audience, yet it doesn't take away from the magic at all. Similarly, despite the audience there is some beautiful use of language. One of my favourites is the following quote:

It seemed as if darkness flowed out like a vapour from the hole in the mountain-side, and deep darkness in which nothing could be seen lay before their eyes, a yawning mouth leading in and down.

Overall, a beautiful and light read that anyone can enjoy.
You're def missin out if you haven't read this!!!
