My Heart Stood Still by Lori Copeland

2.0

This is a simple romance novel, subcategorized "inspiration." It is a bit more interesting than some novels of this type because it is set during the time of the Civil War and the main characters are unique: a free black man, an Indian, and a convent-raised scheming young woman. The plot is interesting enough, somewhat like a made for TV movie plot. The writing is fast paced so even though the genre has a specific formula, the action makes the story readable. I probably would give it 2 1/2 stars. I read it during appointments, so here and there from time to time, but it never bored me. Perhaps, had I read the previous novels in the series, my review would be better. For this genre, inspirational romance or romance, the rating is just average.
