Undercover Princess by Connie Glynn

4.0

This book has been on my want to read shelf for a while, based solely on the gorgeous cover. The premise sounded really good too, which is definitely an added bonus!

Undercover Princess is more of a middle grade book than a young adult book. Some of the things that come up in the story are definitely aimed more towards kids in middle grade. But then there are things like 13 year olds being in love - what? At 13, I was more concerned about things being about to spend the night at my best friend’s house, not falling in love with someone!

The story itself is very intriguing. For some reason, I always love books that primarily take place at boarding schools. There is just something about them that draws me in. Add in the royalty, which typically brings in drama, intrigue, and secrecy, and I’m hooked! This book was no exception. It has all of that and more. There are plot twists, action scenes, cute boys, rivalries, and so much more.

The characters in Undercover Princess are all so unique. Though all are around the same age, one is more naive and obsessed with fairy tales and princesses; one is all about rebellion and doing things that are not expected of her; another is all intellect and puzzles. Those are just a few of the characters, there are plenty more that are all just as interesting.

This is the first book in a trilogy, and I’m excited to read the rest of the series!
