This was a surprise! The beginning was very tough to get into (boring and slow) but I stuck with it. I think it was definitely helpful that it was an audiobook so I could multitask and it didn't seem like a chore/necessary to engage heavily.?
Still, this story really surprised me and the main character, while unlikeable (it insufferable) to some extent (she is 19 and most 19-year-olds are) became very endearing to me. Selin is very self-aware and reflective and is a first-year student at Harvard studying linguistics. She is driven and confused and is very much in the 'surviving early stages of adulthood' vibe but in a more sheltered/conservative way.
If there were a continuation of her story I would definitely pick it up just to see/witness how she continues in her academic/romantic/relational development.
Definitely a story I will continue to think about and reflect on.
