The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk

challenging dark emotional hopeful informative inspiring sad slow-paced

4.0

Very insightful and eye opening. I thought it was a bit repetitive and drawn out at times but overall I was fascinated and the book held my attention.

Included in the beginning of the book are some animal experiment studies that are extremely disturbing and made me sick to my stomach. There are also a lot of stories of traumatic experiences that are very upsetting and difficult to read. For that reason I would not recommend this as a book you read before bed.
