This second instalment in the series was just as flashy and character dynamic driven as the first one; the plot isn't that much of a big deal, but to be honest that's not the reason I'm reading the series. I'm here for a fun time, and Mrs. Swindon is providing just that, so I'm grateful for it. Inconsistencies and incoherences are part of the fun at this point, and everything else is so bizarre that overall it's a balanced experience of "what the hell am I reading" and "I'm so glad I'm able to read this madness".

In this book we have the privilege of seeing Isaac's character do a 360 degrees spin, so that he's not the insufferable arsehole he was in the first book, but a slightly less insufferable and much more slimy version of the same guy that flirts with a girl that's already taken; he puts his lust in first place instead of his hatred for the girl that yeeted his son out of existence and caused the mother of his child to die, like a real macho man does.

We can also see how Kyra doesn’t accept her polyamorous nature and is led to believe she has to choose only one of the guys that drool over her, all while trying to prevent a despicable woman to rule over the entire world. It do be like that sometimes, sigh. I’ll wait for her to acknowledge her true self and find someone that loves her for it. My poor baby Jadox gets the worst treatment of all in this book, and he still manages to be the best character of the series, with his patience and endurance despite the brainless idiots that surround him. He deserves better. And I do too: there’s a dreadful lack of Chocolate in this book…I hope the third book has the dog’s pov.

I received an eARC of the book from the author and this represents my honest opinion.
