An atmospheric fantasy set during WWI, The Warm Hands of Ghosts follow siblings Laura and Freddie - a combat nurse and soldier - as they struggle to find each other when separated by a sinister, supernatural force.
The prose was breathtaking. The characterization was heartbreaking. The portrayal of war was brutal and intimate and not once does the narrative try to glamorize it.
I'll be thinking about this one for a long time.
