Fractal Noise by Christopher Paolini

Did not finish book. Stopped at 68%.
You know how Rogue One is arguably the best Star Wars prequel, with wonderful characters and plot that makes you root for their success and prosperity? Yeah, this was not that. It hurts! I’m disappointed considering To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is a high favorite of mine 😫

This had none of the magic and wonder of the main novel. I could not connect to any of the characters, it seemed pointless, depressing and drawn out, can be skipped altogether as it doesn’t add anything to the world. The audiobook narrator Jennifer Hale is great and the production was quite good but it didn’t save the story. I appreciate the amount of research done by the author overall, but this could have been a footnote. I chose to DNF for my own sanity 68% in.

PS. The fractal thuds were like a cruel torture device on audio 😵‍💫
PPS. the AI cover is misleading making the anomaly look like a portal instead of the sinkhole pictured in the book?
