Magic of Blood and Sea by Cassandra Rose Clarke

5.0

I really enjoyed this book -- the heroine is strong when she needs to be, independent enough to get things done, but also willing to get help when she needs it.

Ananna of the Tanarau is a pirate born girl whose parents are about to marry her off to the handsome son of another pirate family. The man has three strikes against him already: Ananna wants to be a ship captain, not marry one; he is too pretty to be trustworthy; and his mother already hates Ananna.

So she does what any self-respecting pirate girl would do. Steals a camel and escapes.

Unfortunately, the family she did not marry into carries a big grudge, and hires an assassin.

Fortunately, Ananna saves his life and activates a curse that binds them together.

A lot of sailing, magic and danger later, I'm ready for the next installment of this girl's adventures! Onward to Magic of Wind and Mist.
