Bury Your Gays is a haunting tale of the machine that is Hollywood along with how queer tragedy overrides any queer joy in almost every situation.
With that being said, I do think this is an important novel with a bit of creepy vibes. I was so enthralled by Bury your Gays when I started it as the writing style was the perfect style for me and the storyline was very intriguing. As the story went on though I fell into a bit of a lull while reading it. It felt repetitive and I just did not feel connected to the story anymore. It went down a route that I felt was bland and a bit lazy. I wanted it to be more horrifying due to that fact that we had all this build up and although AI is terrifying, I felt like I lost the horror writing style that had me shaking in my boots at the beginning of the novel.
It did feel like we were going off script and down a lot of paths that didn't make much sense for the story that was trying to be told but by the end I accepted it for what it was. Overall, I think the themes of queerness are important and deserve to be analyzed but sadly it just felt a little boring to me when we were not looking back on the past or there wasn't extreme horror elements.
