A Boy's Own Story by Edmund White

2.0

Gave me mixed feelings. The young protagonist goes through and describes a lot of very relatable situations growing up as a gay man. I really struggled with all the references towards Freudian psychoanalysis. Equally exhausting was the stream-of-consciousness narrative that in the beginning is very well done, but becomes more and more mechanical towards the end. Unfortunately, it left me disappointed at the end.
