Beautiful, raw, mystical, haunting writing about one of the darkest, most brutal chapters of American history - wrapped around a love story.
I lost my way at times..... despite my love for a multi-narrator novel, this got a bit hard for me to get straight (no pun intended) in my head..... as a result it took me 6 weeks to read. My fault, not the book's - in a more competent, better educated reader's hands this is a 5-star reading experience.
