This was a really enjoyable read but it was challenging at times, especially in regard to domestic/family/intimate partner violence and sexual assault . I loved the first season of Big Little Lies and decided to read the book which did not disappoint - I preferred the direction of the book than the show.
I strongly appreciated that Liane did her research ondomestic/family/intimate partner violence . She wrote with care and consideration by not perpetuating harmful myths and highlighting how difficult it is to leave and break cycles of abuse . I liked the mystery interwoven in the story but it felt like a backdrop to the complicated lives of these women navigating motherhood, school politics and relationships. The characters were interesting with distinct personalities and great character development. I particularly loved the strong female friendships.
