I was pleased to have an early review copy of this excellent novel. Lawyer Kelly McCann represents a truly vile man, a doctor named George Benedict. She's done damage control on many sexual assaults and must deal with her own cognitive dissonance over working with him. Kelly's husband has been unresponsive for ten years after a brain injury, and Kelly needs to support her two children. But when Benedict assaults Kelly, she realizes things must change, and fast. The plot on this book ticks along rapidly, pulling the reader in with every turn. I love the legal aspects of Kistler's books, but the emotional impact is the most compelling part. I felt a few disconnects between Kelly's internal monologue and my views that rubbed me the wrong way, but this may not bother some readers. I'm excited for more books and need to go back and read the one I haven't read!
