people who need a sequel to know paul isn’t a hero have zero brain cells to rub together

differences that i wanted to note:
book
- better job of making paul’s impact on the fremen feel colonial and icky. the movie makes it feel like he’s truly a part of the tribe, but the book everything moves SO fast and it’s clear that paul and jessica don’t truly understand the fremen
- even down to chani liking paul, there’s zero chemistry there it’s almost like she’s doing it on purpose to fulfill a prophecy
- paul’s intentions are much more insidious and clear
- paul being a mentat makes everything make way more sense
- book RUSHED to a finish, but was notably more obvious in paul being a villain
movie
- generally better pacing overall
- chani not treating paul like the lisan al gaib gives her some agency and sews our doubt in paul
- kept the baron creepy without being homophobic and stereotyping gay men as predators
- the water of life is way more interesting and has higher stakes, like i wasn’t sure paul was gonna make it out of that except for i knew the ending
