people who need a sequel to know paul isn’t a hero have zero brain cells to rub together

differences that i wanted to note:

book

better job of making paul’s impact on the fremen feel colonial and icky. the movie makes it feel like he’s truly a part of the tribe, but the book everything moves SO fast and it’s clear that paul and jessica don’t truly understand the fremen
even down to chani liking paul, there’s zero chemistry there it’s almost like she’s doing it on purpose to fulfill a prophecy
paul’s intentions are much more insidious and clear
paul being a mentat makes everything make way more sense
book RUSHED to a finish, but was notably more obvious in paul being a villain

movie

generally better pacing overall
chani not treating paul like the lisan al gaib gives her some agency and sews our doubt in paul
kept the baron creepy without being homophobic and stereotyping gay men as predators
the water of life is way more interesting and has higher stakes, like i wasn’t sure paul was gonna make it out of that except for i knew the ending
